On 12 - 15 May 2024, Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University organized the 1st Mahidol University Graduate Students Volunteer Camp for Community Development at Ban Pa Ko Border Patrol Police School, Chanuman District, Amnatcharoen Province. The project was conducted to encourage Mahidol postgraduate students to contribute their knowledge to developing the community. As well as promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Goal 3 Good Health and Well-Being: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, Goal 4 Quality Education: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, Goal 10 Reduced Inequalities: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and Goal 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. During the opening session, Mrs. Witchuta Buakhlee, Director of Ban Pa Ko Border Patrol Police School gave welcoming remarks, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sineewanlaya Wichit, Deputy Dean for International Relations, Networking Development and Student Affairs, reported the objectives of the volunteer project, and Dr.Suraporn Loiha, Vice President for Amnatcharoen Campus Project, honourably delivered the opening remarks.
The volunteer project contains various activities — school environment makeover, providing basic health check-ups and knowledge about healthcare and CPR with students and teachers in Ban Pa Ko Border Patrol Police School and the general public at Huai Thom Health Promoting Hospital. The activities in this volunteer project enhance the Leadership and Management skills of Mahidol University postgraduate students. In addition, undergraduate students from Amnatcharoen Campus Project, Mahidol University, also joined this volunteer project.
