On Tuesday, 11 November 2025, a delegation from the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University (MUGR), had a visit to Great Bay University in Dongguan, Shenzhen City Polytechnic, and Harbin Institute of Technology Business School in Shenzhen, Guangdong, People's Republic of China, to discuss and expand academic collaboration opportunities.
The delegation was led by Professor Dr. Chartchalerm Isarankura-Na-Ayudhya, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, and included Assistant Professor Dr. Ornlatcha Sivarak, Deputy Dean for Education and Academic Development, and Assistant Professor Dr. Sineewanlaya Wichit, Deputy Dean for International Relations, Networking, and Student Affairs. Joining the discussions were representatives from several Mahidol University institutions including the Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Engineering, ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia, and the National Institute for Child and Family Development. The key discussions were as follows:
Great Bay University (GBU), led by Professor Xiaoming Li, Vice President (Teaching and Learning) and Chair Professor, focused on promoting academic cooperation, particularly in Engineering and Artificial Intelligence (AI), through various forms of collaboration such as student capacity building and mobility. The delegation also had the opportunity to visit facilities within the university. is established to enroll high-potential students, utilizing a Personalized Interest-Based Learning model that allows students to select their field of study after completing their first year.
Shenzhen City Polytechnic (SZCP), led by Professor Wen Shouwen, President, and Professor Zhu Aiqun, Vice President, emphasized the development of academic cooperation particularly in the fields of Pharmacy and Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine. Both parties discussed potential collaboration through initiatives such as co-created education with Mahidol University programs and Technology Transfer. The delegation also visited several academic units within the polytechnic, including the School of Jewelry, Sino-German Intelligent Manufacturing School, and the School of Applied Biology. The college is a Higher Vocational Institute that focuses on producing skilled personnel for the industrial sector.
Harbin Institute of Technology Business School (HIT), led by Mr. Wang Tiejun, Director of Operations, focused on developing academic cooperation in Business Administration programs. The discussion included potential areas of collaboration such as establishing joint degree and non-degree teaching programs, tailored to meet the needs of learners in the business sector.
In addition, Mahidol University and all three institutes explored potential approaches and opportunities to expand cooperation into other academic areas of mutual interest, aiming to strengthen academic collaboration between Mahidol University and higher education institutions in China with continuity and comprehensive engagement in teaching, research, and academic exchange in the future.
